I have simply tried to write a composition that would befit the timbre and expressive of this instrumental ensemble. The use of counterpoint characterizes all four movements; In this regard it is no coincidence that the last is a fugue: the ultimate expression of this compositional technique.But there are also other elements: the lyricism that characterizes the third movement, the rhythmic variety and dynamics that are fundamental elements of the second, and the fairytale setting in which it takes place in the first movement.It is an honor to be chosen as the winner of the 2015 Bassoon Chamber Music Composition Competition, and know that my work has been appreciated by musicians of such high level.
