"I wanted to write something modal, which I'd never done before, and thought brass quintet would be a good ensemble for it. The piece ended up sounding a bit like Vaughan Williams, especially when the tuba solo happens." All instruments need straight mutes, and the trumpets also need cups. Range is generally moderate except for a few high notes here and there, especially at the end for Trumpet 1. The tuba solo will give your performer a fingering workout!
