The Violin 3 part is the same as the Viola part. Violin players can therefore be used in addition to or instead of Viola players. The Viola / Violin 3 part is Elementary level. Less competent/confident Cello players can be included in the ensemble by using the Double Bass part. The Double Bass part is optional, but its inclusion is preferable in the case of a larger ensemble. Although each part is melodic and integral to the arrangement, the Viola (and/or Violin 3) part has the main melody for the entire piece.
