Published by Baton Music (BF.BM1207-SCORE). Abendlied' (Evening song), is a sacred motet by the composer the German Joseph Rheinberger for a six-part mixed choir. It has been regarded as his best-known sacred composition and has a strong affinity with the English spiritual song Abide with Me.Rheinberger wrote a first version on 9 March 1855, one month before Easter and two weeks before his 16th birthday. At age 24, he revised the motet, for example eliminating repetition of notes and changing the marking. Italian arranger Gottfried Veit arranged this famous motet for a large Brass Ensemble.
