The second movement, "Take a Bow," uses extensive double stops in the strings. The third movement, "About a Minute Waltz," is percussive and rhythmic, and the last movement, "A Sad Song," contrasts repetitions of a straightforward lyrical stanza with rhapsodic interludes.
