There is also non-functional harmony throughout the work that differentiates this piece from other works of this difficulty, with few accidentals (concert B in saxes and horns, concert D-flat in low brass and reeds). This selection can be played with a minimal ensemble of flutes, clarinets, alto saxes, trumpets, trombones and percussion. A treble clef baritone part is also included.
