Recorder - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.831374 Composed by Thomas Weelkes. Arranged by James Grush. Renaissance. Recorder Ensemble. 22 pages. JGJG Sheet Music LLC #3422949. Published by JGJG Sheet Music LLC (A0.831374). "As Vesta was from Latmos Hill Descending" is a six-part madrigal by Thomas Weelkes (c. 1575 – 1623), one of England’s finest composers.   Adapted for SSATTB recorders from a facsimile of Madrigals: The Triumphs of Oriana (1601) which honors Queen Elizabeth I. The goddess Vesta descends a hill and spots the maiden Queen ascending; Vesta’s entourage leaves her to entertain the Queen and sing her praises. Score and individual parts, plus notes with lyrics. A great example of word painting, this madrigal is enjoyable to play and is appreciated by audiences. Good for ensembles, recorder orchestras, workshops, and recorder society meetings.
