In recent years, our addiction to our devices has negatively impacted our ability to focus and to connect with each other. The first part of “Awaken” explores the dangers associated with overuse of these devices. It includes knocking sounds symbolizing our needed wake-up calls, along with optional staging suggestions using illuminated devices on stage or pantomime. The second part of the piece offers solutions, including experiencing nature, finding our passions, and connecting with each other. It ends with a powerful statement to “make a difference and share the light in you.” This piece makes a powerful statement while bringing to light an important issue of our time.
