This arrangement is for a string trio (violin, viola, cello.) Since this fugue isn't too fast, this piece would be a great technical exercise for advancing students. The violin and viola briefly shift to 3rd position, and they will also need to use 1/2 position. The cello part can be played in 1st position, and 1/2 position will also need to be used by the player. Towards the end of the piece, simple double stops are briefly used in all parts.This piece would be useful for players to learn how to interpret Baroque fugal music, especially in regards to the trade-off between subjects and counter-subjects.
