(Phoebe Knapp's husband, Joseph Fairchild Knapp, was founder of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.) Phoebe Knapp played a new tune she had just written several times for her friend Fanny Crosby. "What do you think the tune says?" Crosby replied, "Blessed Assurance, Jesus is mine."
