Frühlingsknotenblumen5) Wintergrün (Pyrola rotundifolia) Round-leaved Wintergreen***Not ignoring the tradition of both Scott Joplin and Carlos Guastavino, I composed a cycle of pieces with flower names. The five titles have in common that they allude to a different time of the year (month or season). These flowers also have a dual aspect: they can be poisonous or serve as a naturopathic remedy, depending on how they are used. As you can imagine, it's a kind of duality that I can not resist. The general title, "Blümerantes" contains a play on words: Blumen means "flowers" and blümerantes means "feeling dizzy" (because of poison, for example). This title was suggested to me by Katrin Dapper-Helmerding (flutist, of course). The total duration is around 20 minutes. In some atavistic way I perceive in this work a strongly feminine character that I would regret would be lost.
