Boogie in the Barnyard is a lively rhythm & blues style piece in G major which will suit established beginner pianists at about the Grade 2 (ABRSM) standard.The right hand melody features a syncopated quaver - crotchet - quaver phrasing, which also occurs in both hands throughout the piece. This piece is best played at a steady groove (about 112 bpm), so try to resist the temptation to get faster!Once you can perform the piece all the way through (without stopping), try playing along with the accompanying backing track, which is excellent training for your musical 'ear' (this is also available at Sheet Music Plus). If you have someone to control the volume of the backing track, try fading out the track whilst playing along, and then fading it back in again a few bars later.
