The work was written to feature the songs of the bushdance and to portray the excitement of the trip to and participation in the evening's entertainment. Melodies include "The Darvy Knick Knack," "The Waves or Tory," "Big Fairy Mountain and Little Fairy Mountain" and finally, "Soldier's Joy.".
