It is tailored to be performed in a set between its complementary arrangements March and Caprice, a setting of two sea shanties, and Fanfare and Dance, a juxtaposition of two Irish folksongs. In contrast to its bookend counterparts, this work is longer and more patient in its development of these quiet and profound melodies.
