Nos. 1, 2 & 3 were composed at the same time as the flute and organ set, (one initial idea was for the solo instrument to be playable on either flute or oboe since "En dehors la brise apaisante" had been performed twice with organ and flute). No. 4 was an adaptation of an unfinished trio for piano, flute, and violin, and No. 5 was a completion of an oboe/organ piece that I started writing in 2019 when I left Europe. There is no obligation to perform these as a suite, although there was some deliberation in ordering each vignette as presented in the score to provide a flow of dynamic and character.
