Commissioned by Théodore Dubois for the Paris Conservatory flute competition in 1902, Chaminade's Flute Concertino is dedicated to the flute teacher at the Conservatory, Paul Taffanel. A “seductive” piece, recorded many times, it is still part of the concert repertoire for the instrument today.
