One example of his artistic examination of elements of Polish folk music is his work for strings in G major which he named expressly „Polish concerto. The concerto begins with a solemn stepping -polonaise in four-four time. Even the quick sec-ond movement, also in four-four time, can be derived from the tradition of the polonaise. It is followed by the third movement, a slow mazurka.
