Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Bass Clarinet,Bassoon,E-Flat Clarinet,Flute,Oboe,Piccolo,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1214320 Composed by Nikolay Andreyevich Rimsky-Korsakov. Arranged by Owen Meldon. 19th Century,Chamber,Classical,Opera. 74 pages. Owen Meldon #811403. Published by Owen Meldon (A0.1214320). This piece comes from Rimsky-Korsakov's successful opera The Snow Maiden, which is a retelling of the fairy tale of the same name. The Dance of the Birds is often performed as part of the suite from the opera, as the second movement. In the opera, however, it is part of the prolouge. In the prolouge, Rimsky-Korsakov writes cheery and fanciful lines for the orchestra, particularly in the winds as a musical metaphor for the birds. What better way to arrange this piece than for a fleet of woodwind instruments? I decided to add a few colorful instruments such as the soprano saxophone and E-flat clarinet, and many of the soloistic lines are retained on the original instruments. Instrumentation (recommended number of players): Piccolo (1) Flute I (2) Flute II (2) Oboe (2) Bassoon (2) Clarinet in Eb (1) Clarinet I in Bb (2) Clarinet II in Bb (2) Clarinet III in Bb (2) Clarinet IV in Bb (2) Clarinet V in Bb (2) Bass Clarinet in Bb (2) Soprano Saxophone (1) Alto Saxophone (2) Tenor Saxophone (1) Baritone Saxophone (1) Duration: c. 2'50" This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard’s global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
