Danzón No. 2 was commissioned by the National Autonomous University of Mexico and was premiered in 1994 in Mexico City by the Orchestra Filarmonica de la UNAM under the direction of Francisco Savín. It is offered here for a chamber ensemble including 7 players plus an optional String Bass. I have included 2 versions. The 2nd can be played with only a String Quart plus Clarinet aka Brahms or Mozart. The oboe bits for the larger version are cued throughout the string parts.
