In any case, Clarke leaves no doubt about the poem's underlying situation: this is not so much a morning-song as a morning-after song, and the lovers are not only still in bed, but wound very tightly in one another's embrace.Daybreak was recorded by Angharad Gruffydd Jones, of the Choir of Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge, directed by Geoffrey Webber, on ASV CD DCA 1136, released in 2003. The disc includes Clarke's complete choral music and six vocal duets.
