Welsh text here is by John Jones and English text by Thomas Oliphant, a Scottish musician. Not surprisingly, the 1862 English text centered around drinking, with phrases like:Fill the meadcup, drain the barrel, (Don we now our gay apparel)See the flowing bowl before us, (See the blazing yule before us)Laughing quaffing all together, (Sing we joyous all together)Lyrics in this arrangement appear in the December 1877 issue of the Pennsylvania School Journal which no longer includes references to drinking.About this Arrangement:A duet version of this brief, delightful and fun-to-sing arrangement is the basis for this SATB arrangement.
