About this arrangement

SATTB chorus a cappella - Level 3 SKU: CA.2071200 From: Il settimo libro de' madrigali a cinque voci, 1595. Composed by Luca Marenzio. Edited by Helmut Lauterwasser. Carus digital: Extra digital products. Octavo. Composed 1595. Duration 1.5 minutes. Carus Verlag #2071200. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.2071200). ISBN 9790007293680. Key: A minor. Language: IT. Text: Guarini, Giovanni Battista.Alongside Gesualdo and Monteverdi, Marenzio is one of the great Italian madrigalists. The influence of his sophisticated madrigalian art on the younger generation of composers is shown by the fact that Heinrich Schutz arranged or creatively adapted the madrigal "Deh poi ch'era ne' fati ch'io dovessi" twice: his two settings of the sacred madrigal "Ach Herr, du Schopfer aller Ding" SWV 450 and 450a are based on Marenzio's secular madrigal which sets six lines from Guarini's "Il Pastor Fido".
