Delius first wrote this dance for his symphonic suite Florida (1888) and he subsequently incorporated it into the second act of his opera Koanga (1896-1897), where it is used as a Creole wedding dance with soli and chorus. The instrumental version would later become famous as a stand-alone piece for the concert hall and it is, in fact, the only part of the opera which entered the repertoire.This is the first arrangement ever for piano duet of Delius's beloved orchestral work.
