Devil's Duel was commissioned and premiered by David Thornton at Leeds Town Hall in May 2006. Based on themes by Pagannini, this piece is an extreme tour-de-force. While the original is quite challenging, the composer has included less-challenging ossia parts that utilize a slightly smaller range and less complicated rhythmic challenges.
