Evans #353608. Published by Richard A. Evans (A0.748368). Ignaz Pleyel (1757-1831) was an outstanding pupil of Franz Joseph Haydn with whom he remained friends his entire life. He was a prolific composer in a wide range of genres....symphonies, string quartets, operas and chamber music. He founded a music publishing business in Paris which published works of such composers as Mozart, Beethoven and Boccherini. He arranged works of composer such as this composition by Devienne that he arranged as a flute duet. His music is noted for it simplicity which made it quite popular with the amateur musicians of his time, but it quickly fell out of favor with his death.
