Eine Kleine Nachtmusik is the working title Mozart gave to his Serenade no.13 for Strings in G Major K525. This duet is of the famous Allegro first movement. However, even though this is one of Mozart’s best known and best loved melodies, more than thirty years passed after his death before it was first published in 1827. This version is arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Alto Saxophone. Musicians at an advanced intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances, with both parts enjoying melodic interest. The duet format gives more instrumentalists an opportunity to play music that usually requires a quartet. The overall performance time is around nine minutes with repeats, four and a half without.
