Ekato, which is Greek for 100, was commissioned by the Royal Brass band �De Strijders� from the town of Oosterwijk-Werstelo (Belgium) on the occasion of their 100th anniversary in 2006. The piece was composed during the composer�s visit to the island of Kos (the island where Hippocrates lived) in Greece.The beginning of the work depicts the calmness of the countryside and the pleasant bustle of the port. The slow passage paints the wonderful landscapes and the beaches and is followed by a festive finale in which the composer depicts the Castle of the Knights of St John.Ekato, wat Grieks is voor 100, is geschreven in opdracht van de Koninklijke Fanfare 'De Strijders' uit Oosterwijk-Westerlo (België) ter gelegenheid van hun 100-jarig bestaan in 2006 en werd gecomponeerd tijdens het bezoekvan de componist aan het eiland Kos (het eiland waar Hipocrates leefde) in Griekenland. Het begin van het werk omschrijft de rust van het binnenland en de gezellige drukte van de haven. Das Stück entstand während eines Aufenthalts des Komponisten auf der Insel Kos/Griechenland (die Insel auf der Hippokrates lebte).Der Anfang des Werkes beschreibt die Ruhe der Landschaft und das angenehme Treiben am Hafen.
