He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists in July 1889 and was professor of organ and composition at the London Organ School.His considerable skill and experience of writing for learners is evident throughout the collections of tutors, studies and piano pieces still published by Forsyth today. The books are both lively and imaginative and carefully lead the pupil through every stage necessary to develop a complete technique.
