Indeed, solar eclipses as explained in Hindu mythology are of Rahu swallowing Surya.  To prevent Surya from burning everything up, Brahma asks Aruna to become Surya’s charioteer. This quintet evokes the heroic character of Aruna, as well as his ability to temper Surya’s anger as they traverse the sky. Moderately difficult, Enter Aruna is appropriate for College and Professional level quintets. As with all my original brass quintet compositions and arrangements, I play through each part on each instrument to ensure playability and musicality.
