ISBN 9790207004796.My admiration and interest about the flamenco and its musical richness induced me to get involved with it more deeply. The concertante style, with an optional cadenza for the quintet, gives an interesting background to develop the soloistic virtuosity, constantly combined with the different sections of the full orchestra. I was very interested on the possibility to mix flamenco with other music styles maintaining its origins. At the same time I was attracted on the melodic, harmonic and rhythmic characteristics of its different “palos" or “cantes". The original composition was a commission from the “Institut Valencià de la Música" for symphonic band and brass quintet. The present transcription for orchestra and brass quintet was commissioned in 2008 by the famous quintet “Spanish Brass – Luur Metalls" to which the work is dedicated. J. Vicent Egea, 2010.
