In der Komposition verarbeitet Waterhouse das Fragment eines ukrainischen Volksliedes und verweist so auf den kulturellen Schatz des angegriffenen Landes. Dennoch stimmt Waterhouse am Ende des Stückes optimistische, friedliche Klänge an und setzt somit ein starkes, hoffnungsvolles musikalisches Zeichen.
