Written in celebration of the life of Gordon Sohl, who (along with his wife Vera) attended every Dallas Winds concert from the first one in 1985 until shortly before his death in 2018. Gordie died on the morning of the day of the 2018 Christmas concert. Vera was at the concert that evening, and still has not missed one since. Premiered March 2019 as surprise for Vera. Howard Dunn (Dallas Winds co-founder) used to call everyone "My Friend," in part because everyone was his friend, and in part because he could not remember anyone's name. So, it is appropriate that the Dallas Winds bids adieu to a really great friend by saying, "Farewell, My Friend.".
