Published by Imagine Music Publishing (IG.PDP187). 9 x 12 in inches.Alan composed his Four Little Pieces for Three Big Bassoons in 1998 for three of his friends and colleagues: Susan Anderson, Bruce Gbur, and Kimberly Krutz. Those players presented the premiere of the pieces at a program of the Midwest Double Reed Society on 19 September 1998 at the University of Kansas. With Alan's dry humor, he designated the three parts as Principal Contrabassoon, Solo Contrabassoon, and First Contrabassoon. As far as can be determined, this is the first work ever composed for this delightful combination of instruments.
