Flute, oboe, violin, 2 viole, cello - Grade 4-5 SKU: ET.MCX66 Composed by Francois Pantillon. Contemporary. Editions BIM #MCX66. Published by Editions BIM (ET.MCX66). ISBN 9790207015242.While writing this sextet, I was immediately transported in time into an 18th century mood, back to a time when musicians played for the pleasure while their listeners simply relaxed. The work was commissioned by a swiss ensemble consisting of members from two musician families. The group was called “E Musicae Gaudio, which included a string quartet, flute and oboe. The sextet is a divertimento in three parts: the first, on viola 16th beats background, offers contrasting burlesque and heroic themes, followed by a gracious and cantabile theme. The second movement is a march doloroso that evolves into an ethereal dream episode, and the third is a joyfull and bright badinerie highlighted by unpredictable rhythmic variations. François Pantillon, Lugnorre, 2008.
