'Get This Party Started', also referred to by some artists as 'Get The Party Started', was initially a massive mainstream hit for the singer Pink in 2001, and formed part of a brief revival of 1960s 'boogaloo' style pop music. Then in 2007-8, Shirley Bassey recorded a cover for a UK spy-themed 2006 Marks & Spencer Christmas television advertising campaign, creating a 'Goldfinger'-styled ballad from the same material. This arrangement draws inspiration from both versions. It opens as a ballad for soloist, then becomes a medium tempo 1960s boogaloo and finishes with a twist in the form of a fast techno-style dance-music close. Vocal parts are mostly simple and repetitive throughout, allowing space for choreography, dance routines and other shenanigans.This short arrangement is designed as a show-opener for a 'party'-themed show, and features a solo for baritone or lower tenor.
