About this arrangement

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.956636 Composed by Franz Joseph Haydn. Arranged by Catriona Melville-Mason. Classical,Concert,Standards,World. 8 pages. C Melville-Mason #6491201. Published by C Melville-Mason (A0.956636). During his period at the court of the Esterházy family, Joseph Haydn spent time working alongside gypsy musicians.  The influence of Hungarian folk tunes is evident in some of his best known works.  String Quartet Op. 20, No. 4 is often known as the ‘Gypsy’ quartet and the concluding movement of his Piano Trio in G Major (Hob. XV:25) is a rondo in traditional folk style.  This ‘Gypsy Dance’ is one of a set of 8, originally written for piano but arranged here for semi-flexible mixed woodwind quartet. This piece has been classed as 'intermediate' as, despite the alarming opening key in the clarinet parts, it is actually fairly approachable.
