It endeavors to recreate the emotional flavor and atmosphere of the Yuletide season of bygone days. Set against a wide expanse of snow is a farm house and approaching from the road is a horse-drawn sleigh. The mood picture is completed by the juxtaposition of sleigh bells and of a simple song-like melody with alternating sections in the style of Christmas carols. This new edition by Mark Rogers is the first to include a full conductor's score.
