The rolling arpeggiated left hand provides the  intermediate pianist with an "etude-like" study.  The melody and lyrics (from the from the diary of a civil war-era wife), is accompanied with a contemporary harmonic language. Fingerings and chord tabs appear as well as the text for two verses and refrain, each in a different key. Intermediate pianists  will benefit from this presentation of the song in two different keys to "de-mystify" the art of transposition. The recording of this piece was done by a 45 year-old- mother of three studying piano with the composer.
