This haunting lullaby from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is well suited to a solo piano arrangement. An 8 bar introduction hints at aspects of both the melodic and harmonic material of the song. The main melody is then presented close to its original form, with some limited use of reharmonization. The melodic material is then ornamented and varied from bar 29, and the original song's beautiful modulation from C minor to F minor is used in the arrangement to build a climax which reaches its peak in bars 45 to 50. A cadenza-like passage is then used to bring the music back to C minor with a restatement of the melody from bar 58, leading to a hushed close. Some fingering suggestions have been included, but these may not suit all hands.
