Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1298155 By Daniel Carter. By Daniel Carter. Arranged by Daniel Carter. Sacred. 9 pages. Daniel Carter #888131. Published by Daniel Carter (A0.1298155). A personal message from the composer regarding how this piece came together: Having been at the transition between life and death more than once, and continuing on a lifetime journey of unpredictable highs and lows, these experiences have taught me that without such contrasts we cannot comprehend nor fully appreciate them as the remarkable gifts they are. As we heal from the trauma of not being able to comprehend or find satisfactory reasons for some of our experiences, we can eventually look back into the darkness of our fears and find beauty in them. They begin to make sense to us by looking at a much larger part of the whole, and as a result, we also become whole. There is no cure without illness. Joy cannot exist in itself without sorrow. It was not till I died that I understood life, and therefore, the beauty of both. There is no obligation to find meaning in our lives. It is simply up to us to decide. But when we are able to experience such vast contrasts and see greater beauty in all of them, we begin the journey of wholeness and oneness, and all things become blessings, and indeed, every particle in the universe becomes love. While this piece is considered neither religious nor secular, it is sacred to me.Here is the text: I sing the bursting joy of dawn,The laughing clouds that tease the sky;Aliveness of color the sun gives earth; The shimmering dance of the trees.I hear the song of the free and the wildOf winged things like angels and insects and birds,The rushing and slowing and creeping of life; All music both silent and voiced. It was not till each day I died that night could bring me lifeNor was it still that night would die that I would live each day.But now I know both life and death; both friends who live within me.Because of them at last, I feel. Awakening, I see and hear once more. And so I sing the joy of dawn,And of the night’s deep, deathly calm,The death of all death, the birth of all birth,The call of the dance of all dances.I hear the song of the free and the wild—Winged angels and planets in flight;Through death, I live. Through life, I die.Because of both, I Am.So be it.Amen. Visit www.danielcartermusic.com to explore other compositions by Daniel Carter, including choral, solo, instrumental, ensemble, and more.
