Clarinet,Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.950838 Composed by Moshe S. Knoll. 20th Century,Contemporary,Latin. Score and part. 51 pages. ArtsAhimsa #3638917. Published by ArtsAhimsa (A0.950838). This is a tragic, neo-romantic Fantasia Quasi una Sonata. The dark, turbulent emotions evoked by the piece are an echo of the epic narratives created by the great American writers Nathaniel Hawthorne and Hermann Melville. Both artists hiked on the site known as Squaw Peak Trail, (Monument Mountain), located in Berkshire County, MA. Both Hawthorne and Melville were aware of "Monument Mountain" (1815) by William Cullen Bryant, which tells of the forbidden love felt by a Mohican woman, who leapt to her death from Squaw Peak.
