But it was the Glenn Miller version that grabbed the public’s attention, becoming almost the soundtrack to the Second World War. In the Mood has never lost its popularity and has been recognised as "culturally significant" by the Library of Congress. In 1951 In the Mood became the first piece of music to be played by a computer.This arrangement of In the Mood is written with accessibility in mind. It is arranged for a standard jazz combo of Alto and Tenor Saxophone, Trumpet and Trombone plus rhythm section of Bass, Drums and Piano/Guitar, and aims to deliver the big band sound with a smaller group. The solos from the original Glenn Miller recording are transcribed and notated in full, though players may prefer their own improvisations.
