What is special about these pieces is that the guitar strings are tuned to DADGAD. Strings 1, 2 and 6 are each tuned a tone deeper, creating a pitch that seems to be made for these Irish arrangements. The pieces are written in tablature for the guitarists, but also in conventional notation, so that a fiddle, tin-whistle or even a Uilleann pipe could play along. All tracks are included on the enclosed CD, and the CD also contains more jigs, reals and horn pipes recorded with baroque guitar and bass - just to listen to.
