The entire story of Jack and the Beanstalk is told in this programmatic bebop blues while paying tribute to a number of jazz "Giants." The melody has similarities to Charlie Parker's "Now's the Time," the rhythm at the beginning of the shout chorus is comparable to Brubeck's "Take Five," and the chord progression in the middle of the shout chorus, leading into the section where the Giant is chasing Jack, is originally from Coltrane's "Giant Steps.".
