His most well known compositions are 'El baile de Luis Alonso' (1896) and 'La boda de Luis Alonso' (1897) about the celebrated Spanish dancer Luis Alonso. Both zarzuelas have a beautiful 'intermedio'; with graceful themes almost a classical scherzo. American arranger Douglas McLain transcribed the intermedio of the 'boda' for Symphonic Band.
