This wonderful arrangement for concert band from Franco Cesarini retains all of La Gazza Ladra’s original charm, and is ideal as a concert opener.In de monumentale ouverture La gazza ladra (De stelende ekster) presenteert de componist thema’s uit de opera zelf, om het publiek alvast een voorproefje te geven. Het idee om een ouverture met tromgeroffel laten beginnen,was absoluut nieuw. Verder bevat de ouverture thema’s om nimmer te vergeten, maar ook maakt de luisteraar (hernieuwd) kennis met enkele van de spectaculairste effecten die Rossini ooit heeft voortgebracht.In der monumentalen Ouvertüre zu La gazza ladra (Die diebische Elster) werden Themen aus der Oper selbst verwendet, um das Publikum auf diese schon vorzubereiten. Die Idee, die Ouvertüre mit einem Wirbel von zwei Solo-Trommeln beginnen zu lassen, war absolut neu. Sie enthält Themen, die sich unauslöschlich ins Gedächtnis der Hörer einprägen und einige der spektakulärsten Effekte, die das charakteristische Rossini-Crescendo je hervorbrachte.Pour familiariser le public avec le sujet de son oeuvre, Gioacchino Rossini (1792-1868) a noué dans la trame de sa somptueuse ouverture de La gazza ladra&gt;/I&gt; (La Pie voleuse) quelques thèmes repris ultérieurement dans l’opéra. La Pie voleuse s’ouvre sur un trait de génie : un roulement de tambour (2 caisses claires). Du jamais vu ! L’ouverture est une des plus éclatantes et des plus vivantes de Rossini. Certaines de ses mélodies sont profondément ancrées dans la mémoire des auditeurs et contiennent de nombreux effets spectaculaires, dont le légendaire «crescendo rossinien».La Gazza ladra è un’opera lirica di Gioacchino Rossini su libretto di Giovanni Gherardini. Il soggetto fu tratto dal dramma La Pie voleuse ou La Servante de Palaiseau (1815) di Théodore Badouin d’Aubigny e Luis-Charles Caignez. La prima rappresentazione ebbe luogo il 31 maggio 1817 al Teatro alla Scala di Milano. L’opera, un tempo famosissima, viene oggi rappresentata raramente, mentre è rimasta nel repertorio sinfonico la celeberrima ouverture, la cui introduzione è affidata al rullante.
