This symphonic poem reflects over two centuries in the history of the people from the Valencian region of Spain.The piece takes us from the highs and lows (lights and shadows) of economic development in 18th Century Spain to the first half of the 20th century, with its civil war and dictatorship.The rebirth of the society, with the coming of democracy, forms the closing of the work. This highly descriptive piece paints a series of vivid musical colours through skilful use of melody, rhythm and orchestration. A truly delightful major new concert work.Dit symfonische gedicht staat stil bij twee eeuwen in de geschiedenis van bewoners van het Spaanse Valencia. Het stuk toont ons de hoogte- en dieptepunten (het licht en schaduw uit de titel) in de economische ontwikkeling van Spanje,van de achttiende eeuw tot de eerste helft van de twintigste eeuw met zijn burgeroorlog en dictatuur. De wedergeboorte van de ruim twee eeuwen oude Real Sociedad Económica de Amigos del Pa s, met de komst van de democratie, vormtde afsluiting van het werk. Dit sterk beschrijvende stuk schildert met behulp van een vaardig gebruik van melodie, ritme en orkestratie een serie levendige muzikale kleuren.Dieses symphonische Gedicht des Spaniers Ferrer Ferran spiegelt die Geschichte der Auftrag gebenden "Ökonomischen Gesellschaft der Freunde des Landes" wider, deren Wurzeln in der Renaissance Valencias liegen.
