I do not seek to displace this lovely piece as part of the ancient St. Lucia's Day tradition, but rather I choose to add another option to be used as a processional, service piece, or concert work.This piece is written simply, divided into two parts for children's performance, and is short by design; the entire song is under two minutes long. I have kept the harmonies at a minimum. Most of the music is sung unison with just a couple of harmonic touches. The texture is: Group One, Group Two, Groups One and Two unison, Groups One and Two harmony. These four textures will help bring color to a mostly-unison performance.
