From a technical standpoint, the pieces run the gamut from a difficulty level of intermediate to advanced. The musician is expected to be able to play not only throughout the third octave but into the lower half of the fourth octave as well. The performer must pay strict attention to the tempi, never making changes to it unless it is explicitly marked either with a new tempo or a ritard. When there is a rest, do not play through it either partially or fully. The performer is allowed to utilize their own bowings except were they indicated and then adhered to faithfully.
