The tune is presented 3 times throughout the piece - the first time in the key of E minor on a solo stop, the second time in the key of G minor, also on a solo stop and the last time in a chordal texture. The meditation ends quietly as it started. Phrases of the song are connected with interesting ostinato motives which unify the piece.
